World Premieres, screenings for children and winning films – Saturday at NexT 

 

The fifth day of the NexT International Short and Medium Length Film Festival brings on a world-premiere, a film and fun activities program dedicated to both children and parents, the screening of the prize winning feature film directed by Cristian Nemescu, California Dreamin’, two seminars featuring wellknown guests at Carturesti Loft and, starting 19:00, Scala Cinema hosts the festival’s closing gala, followed by a screening of the forth festival edition’s winning films.   

 

On Saturday, April 17th 2010, at 15:00, Scala Cinema, hosting the NexT International Film Festival, holds the world-premiere screening of four short and medium length films featured in the Festival Friends section and presented by HBO. This year’s section dedicated traditionally to films made by close filmmaker friends of NexT Cutlural Society is richer than ever before. The four short films shown for the very first time exclusively to the NexT audience are: Lord, Adrian Sitaru’s latest shortfilm, Stuck on Christmass, the medium length film directed by Iulia Rugina and screened in a work-in-progress cut; Kings of the Castle, Vlad Ilicevici and Andrei Tănase’s Romanian-Turk documentary and Sumer-Hits `99 animation film, directed by Liviu Bărbulescu and  Alina Manolache. The screening is follwed by the Romanian Premiere of The Cage, A short film which was recenlty granted the DAAD AWARD following Berlin’s film festival competition, and the Bucharest premiere of Iulia Rugina’s short film, Muzeum of Broken Relationships, produced by the Sarajevo Film Festival during the Sarajevo City of Film program; The Anniversary, directed by Luiza Pârvu and awarded at the 2009 edition of the CineMaiubit Interantional School Film Festival; Tarantyno, directed by Mircea Nestor and selected at film festivals around the United States, Italy, France, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Romania, Răzvan Săvescu’s short film starring Andi Vasluianu, Caviar, and Marius Bulai’s short film, featuring Paul Ipate and Gabi Costiniu in the leading roles, Critical Point. The days starts off with NexT Kids at the Scala Cinema from 11:00, a section dedicated to the youngest NexT viewers who, together with their parents, will have the opportunity to watch a special short film program and take part in a series of interactive thought-out games ment to develop attention and creativity. Tickets for the NexT Kids program are sold at a special price of 5 lei per viewer and can be purchased from the Scala and Eforie Cinemas ticket offices.   

 

The Film directing seminar- From short to feature film, scheduled from 12:00 at Cărtureşti Loft brings Florin Serban, the director of When i want to wistle, i wistle, face to face with the NexT audience, and Elad keidan, the winner of the 2009 NexT Trophy, and Joe Lawlor, the director of the feature film Helen and participant in the festival’s 2007 competition with his shortfilm Daydream. Right before the film directing seminar, from 10:30, Valentin Nadolu, Amc Lead Artist, holds the Vehicles / characters in 3D. Good practices of modeling, seminar, dedicated to all of those passionate about animation and graphics, where he will be sharing with the Cărtureşti visitors details on his experience as a vehicle and video game character designer for several succesful projects based on blockbusters like Batman or Terminator.  

 

At the Eforie Cinema, from 16:30, after the reruns of the last two NexT competition programs, California Dreamin', Cristian Nemescu and Andrei Toncu's feature film, will be screened in the section dedicated to them. Cristian Nemescu is the winner of the Un certain Regard section in the 2007 edition of the Cannes Film festival.  

 

The closing gala of the festival's fourth edition, scheduled at Scala Cinema for Saturday, April 17th, from 19:30 brings together on stage the grand winners of this year's NexT awards, follwoed by the screening of their winning films.  

 

On Sunday, April 18th 2010, the last day Of the NexT International Film Festival's fourth edition, all those who missed some of the best programs in the festival, or wish to see their favourites again will have a chance to do so at the Eforie Cinemate. NexT will screen short and medium lenght films from the Festival Friends section on Sunday; the films selected for the short film competition of the Cannes Film festival's prestigious section and the films in the Short Matters program, presented by the European Film Academy (EFA), which includes all the nominees for The EFA  Award for Best Short Film in 2009.  

 

Saturday and Sunday are the last days in which the NexT audience can purchase the festival’s promotional merchandise from both cinemas, as well as specially crafted accessories, inspired by the festival’s visual patterns designed by Matei Branea. Ten handmade artists have put their one of a kind NexT inspired accessories on sale at the festival’s gift-shops, set up in the Scala and Eforie cinemas lobby areas. This is also where you can purchase all of the promotional merchandise of this year’s edition of the most important Romanian short and medium length film festival.
